Aligarh Division Submits 1,454 Development Proposals Worth ₹5,183.73 Crore: CM Yogi Adityanath

Aligarh: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday reviewed the Public Works Department’s (PWD) action plan for the financial year 2026–27 with public representatives and senior officials of the Aligarh Division at a meeting held in Aligarh district.

During the review, the Chief Minister was informed that a total of 1,454 development proposals with an estimated cost of ₹5,183.73 crore have been received from the Aligarh Division, covering the districts of Aligarh, Etah, Kasganj and Hathras. These proposals primarily focus on roads, bridges, flyovers, connectivity routes and strengthening of basic infrastructure.

Addressing the meeting, CM Yogi Adityanath said that development planning must be firmly rooted in the priorities of public representatives and the real needs of the people. He directed officials to examine all received proposals on a priority basis and submit a final action plan to the state government without delay, so that approvals can be granted and work can begin on the ground by the end of the month.

The Chief Minister emphasised that elected representatives are well aware of local problems, needs and future potential, and therefore development projects should be selected and implemented in line with their priorities through a phased approach. He instructed PWD officials to ensure swift action on proposals related to the Chief Minister Gram Sadak Yojana, state highways, major and minor bridges, ROB–RUB works, roads connecting religious and tourism sites, flyover construction and road safety measures.

Special priority was also directed towards improving connectivity of district headquarters, providing road access to single-approach areas and rectifying accident-prone black spots. Reviewing ongoing projects, the Chief Minister expressed concern over slow progress in four projects and fixed accountability of the concerned officials. He directed that all pending works be completed within the stipulated timelines, warning that unnecessary delays and negligence will not be tolerated and strict action will be taken against erring officers.

Highlighting the importance of execution, CM Yogi said that successful implementation of development projects requires a clear roadmap, regular review, effective monitoring and continuous coordination. He also instructed officials to ensure proper rehabilitation of affected families during construction works and timely payment of compensation as per rules.

During the meeting, the Principal Secretary, PWD, made a detailed presentation of Assembly-wise proposed construction works. The Chief Minister urged all MLAs to clearly define their priorities for the 2026–27 financial year and submit new proposals wherever required.

Responding to concerns raised about damage to rural roads due to highway and large construction projects, CM Yogi directed strict action against overloaded vehicles. Public representatives also placed proposals related to the beautification of Dharanidhar Sarovar, declaring Gonda as a Nagar Panchayat, developing a green divider with plantation instead of cement block dividers on the under-construction Ramghat–Kalyan Marg, and covering open drains in urban areas.

The Chief Minister sought development-related suggestions from MPs, Members of the Legislative Council, district panchayat presidents and mayors, directing officials to examine all proposals seriously. He instructed that roads in villages of public representatives be taken up on priority and that the names of local MPs and MLAs be mandatorily displayed on construction works funded by the state or the Centre. He also ordered immediate repair of roads damaged due to railway and national highway projects and stressed that all new proposals must be prepared only on dispute-free land.

Reiterating the state government’s commitment, CM Yogi said that transparency, quality, accountability and public participation remain the cornerstones of development work in Uttar Pradesh. He directed that bhoomi pujan and foundation-laying ceremonies of projects be conducted by the concerned public representatives and that impartial and effective monitoring of every project be ensured.

The meeting was attended by public representatives from the Aligarh Division, senior administrative officials and officers of the Public Works Department.
